Anticipation is building for what’s sure to be the best yet of the Surf Web Series, the online surfing world championship, about to kick off in South America on October 26, 2020.
The upcoming 51 Ice E-Pro Brasil invites the “Brazilian Storm” powerhouse to show the world what they’ve been up to during the times of quarantine, limited to surfing their regional breaks. Thankfully for residing surfers, the Brazilian coastline offers over 4,660 miles (7,500 km) of beaches to explore.
From the island paradises of Florianópolis and Fernando de Noronha, to the cityscapes of Rio de Janeiro and Maresias, the competitors vary from many different spots in the vast country of Brazil, but they all have one thing in common—they’re passionate about the sport and extremely competitive, especially with the first ever national SWS title and the chance to compete in the SWS World Final Championship against participating nations.
The official competitor list for the 51 Ice E-Pro Brasil has been finalized, with some exciting last-minute additions. Brotherly duo Lucas “Chumbo” Chianca and João “Chumbinho” Chianca from Saquarema have both confirmed participation, both known for their success in the competitive arena. Lucas was on an unprecedented winning streak on the Big Wave World Tour, claiming victories at the Surf Open League’s 2018 Puerto Escondido Cup in addition to the Nazaré Challenge and Mormaii Big Wave contest held at Praia da Cardoso.

Focusing his competitive efforts on the WSL Qualifying Series, João “Chumbinho” Chianca secured a runner-up finish at last winter’s Volcom Pipe Pro to shoot himself up the rankings. The two brothers will be favorites to win and extremely hard to beat, each with their own arsenal of aerial tricks.
Former WCT surfers, Heitor Alves from Ceará and Willian Cardoso from Balneário Camboriú, will test their years of experience on the Tour to see if they can defeat the country’s young up-and-coming talent. Ian Gouveia from Maresias joins the list of CT elite confirmed to participate at the 51 Ice E-Pro Brasil, guaranteed to raise the bar of this unique digital competition.
The youngest competitor of the event at only 16 years of age, Caio Costa from Maresias has confirmed his spot to take on the veterans. Another young gun at 18, Mateus Sena from Rio Grande do Norte, is also ready for battle on the internet.
Additional pros eager and ready to compete include: Samuel Pupo (Maresias), Weslley Dantas (Ubatuba), Lucas Silveira (Florianópolis), Krystian Kymerson (Vitória), Leo Casal (Florianópolis), Matheus Navarro (Florianópolis), Thiago Camarão (Maresias), Luan Hanada (Guarujá), Vitor Ferreira (Rio de Janeiro), Renan Pulga (São Paulo), Hizunome Bettero (São Paulo), and Pedro Dib (São Sebastião).
