Thankfully for residing surfers, the Brazilian coastline offers over 4,660 miles (7,500 km) of beaches to explore. From the island paradises of Florianópolis and Fernando de Noronha, to the cityscapes of Rio de Janeiro and Maresias, the competitors vary from many different spots in the vast country of Brazil, but they all have one thing in common—they’re passionate about the sport and extremely competitive, especially with the first ever national SWS title and the chance to compete in the SWS World Final Championship against participating nations. The official competitor list for the 51 Ice E-Pro Brasil has been finalized, with some exciting last-minute additions. Brotherly duo Lucas “Chumbo” Chianca and João “Chumbinho” Chianca from Saquarema have both confirmed participation, both known for their success in the competitive arena. Lucas was on an unprecedented winning streak on the Big Wave World Tour, claiming victories at the Surf Open League’s 2018 Puerto Escondido Cup in addition to the Nazaré Challenge and Mormaii Big Wave contest held at Praia da Cardoso.
