FINAL HEAT DETERMINED: IAN GOUVEIA VS THIAGO CAMARÃO BATTLE FOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AT 51 I

The final stage is set in Brazil as the nation’s top surfers battle it out on the internet for the first-ever 51 Ice E-Pro Brasil, the fifth stop of the Surf Web Series (SWS) online surfing world championship. The two remaining competitors standing are: former WCT surfer Ian Gouveia and 13-year WQS athlete Thiago Camarão. Both from Maresias in São Paulo, the two fought long and hard against the new generation of “Brazilian Storm”, as Gouveia defeated his friend and neighbor Renan Pulga (São Paulo) in the Semifinal. Camarão somehow found a way to stop Lucas “Chumbo” Chianca (Saquarema) from advancing to keep himself in the running for a victory.

The final heat of the event will be published on @surfwebseries Instagram on November 7th, 2020, at 10am local time. Remember that YOU, THE FANS, are the fifth judge to help push each surfer through to the next round. Your vote is just as important! Engagement grows from the audience, as fans are encouraged to vote for the winners of each heat. The combined tally of fan votes counts as one of five judging panels.

All you have to do to support the surfers is: FOLLOW @SURFWEBSERIES, watch the most recent Heats, and VOTE by tagging their @name in the comment section of that video!

Recognized by the Association of Brazilian Professional Surfing (ABRASP) and Santa Catarina Surf Federation (FECASURF), the online surfing world championship has created a platform for the sport’s elite and renowned competitors to match up against up-and-coming stars, and the next generation of “Brazilian Storm.” Adapting to the times of quarantine and beach closures, participating SWS surfers send in their clips heat by heat from the safety of their sofa without needing to travel to a contest site. This opens opportunity for new talent to rise to the top.

Our top four finalists will take to the podium on November 8th at 10am (local time) via live broadcast on YouTube.com/TVWaves, and will also earn a spot in the SWS World Championship Final in March 2021, competing against participating nations to represent Brazil on a global stage.
