The “Brazilian Storm” delivered a world-class performance on opening day of the 51 Ice E-Pro Brasil—the fifth stop of the Online Surfing World Championship. The Surf Web Series (SWS) event kicked off Monday, October 26th with various WCT veterans matched up with up-and-coming super stars battling it out over the internet with a national title on the line, along with prize money, gear galore, and bragging rights.
The top four finalists, taking to the podium on November 6th via live broadcast on YouTube.com/TVWaves, will also earn a spot in the SWS World Championship Final in March 2021, competing against participating nations to represent Brazil on a global stage.
The opening Round 1 heats saw Lucas “Chumbinho” Chianca (Saquarema) with his out-of-this-world stunts, landing various radical aerials on a single wave, pushing him through to Round 3. He’s known for progression and innovation in his surfing, and is a fan-favorite. He will be tough to beat.
Florionópolis local Lucas Silveira won his first heat of the event with a two-turn backhand attack at Praia da Joaquina. His powerful surfing and experience in heavy surf will be exciting to watch as we await the next clip to be shared in Round 3.

WCT veteran, aka “the Panda” Willian Cardoso (Balneário Camburiú) came out of the gates firing in a close battle between him and longtime WCT surfer Heitor Alves (Ceará) who impressed the judges with a long ride at Praia da Ribanceira in Imbituba, on the island of Santa Catarina. Big wrapping turns with flow and timing got him to the end of the wave as it ramped up for a big punt, landing the aerial to finish. The results from the heated battle will see Alves in the Repechage Round 2 elimination round for another chance.
Remember that YOU, THE FANS, are the fifth judge to make the tally of votes push each surfer through to the next round. Your vote is just as important!
